    The Society was founded way back in 1881 to encourage the study of natural history in the Reading area. Our members come from all around Reading but the ‘district’ is a very general area and members come from as far afield as South Oxfordshire, Maidenhead

    We are working to establish an eco-education centre, combined with a hydro scheme on Caversham Weir, Reading.

  • River Thames Society

    The River Thames Society* was formed in 1962 to conserve the river for future generations and represents all river users whether they be fishermen, walkers, boat owners or just interested in its very rich history, traditions, flora and fauna.

  • Rivers & Environmental Spaces Clean-Up Event (RESCUE)

    RESCUE is a bi-annual environmental clean up event to help keep the rivers, green spaces and urban areas in and around Reading tidy. The clean up relies on the local business and voluntary community to form a ‘clean up team’ to take part.

    The RSPB is the countrys largest nature conservation charity, inspiring everyone to give nature a home. Together with our partners, we protect threatened birds and wildlife so our towns, coast and countryside will teem with life once again.

  • Sheepdrove Organic Farm

    Large organic farm on Lambourn Downs. Sheepdrove Trust supports conservation projects on the farm.

  • Shinfield Parish Volunteer Group (SPVG)

  • Thames River Restoration Trust (TRRT)

    TRRT is a charity dedicated to improving the river and its tributaries to benefit people and nature. We take an overview of the whole of the Thames and its tributaries, as a river basin approach is needed to restore the system to full health.

  • Thames Valley Environmental Records Centre (TVERC)

    We collect, analyse and share geodiversity and biodiversity information in Berkshire and Oxfordshire to help people make sound decisions about how to develop and manage land sustainably and where to direct wildlife conservation work.

  • Thames Valley Fungus Group

    We are an informal group meeting for about a dozen fungus forays each season (usually from September to late November) with an occasional spring foray. Forays are held in the beautiful woodland and grassland of the Thames Valley area: Berkshire, South Oxfordshire.

  • Theale Area Bird Conservation Group

    The T.A.B.C.G. was founded in 1988 to try and preserve habitat in the area of the Theale Gravel Pits and is involved with habitat management from creation to maintenance. The group offers a friendly atmosphere and one which welcomes new members.
